A Business Model Embracing Our Goals

“ Women receive too many messages from too many men, and there comes a time when they stop reading them because the platform becomes boring and very demanding. ”

Meetero is a partially fremium social media about dating. Completely free for women or when using social functions (like publishing a story, for example), and partially free for men. But the free features on Meetero last longer than any other service of that kind. And they are many more.

Social functions also include updating the news wall, publishing states or reacting to something, like following/voting someone. But notice that some of these features may not be available yet at the time this text was written.

Regarding dating features, men, start with an initial number of points that we call credits. Currently, the initial number of credits is 3000. And each dating function involves the discount of some number of credits, depending on what you are doing. The value of each of these functions will be indicated below.

When the male user runs out of credits, they can no longer use the dating functionalities and can only use the social features; they will also be less visible on the platform. Users have three ways to earn extra credits or get unlimited freedom of action:

  1. By paying for a Premium subscription, which is renewed yearly and its price is symbolic and low. It's the most typical option and also the most convenient, since users, with the Premium membership doesn't need credits and can do anything without limits. If the user has leftover credits while a Premium subscription is active, these credits will not be spent during a Premium subscription and will become available again if the user decides not to renew their subscription.
  2. Buying additional credit packages. The larger the package, the greater the savings, although it will never be as convenient as the Premium subscription.
  3. Inviting girls to join Meetero. Doing this helps us meet our goal of having as many women as men on the platform, or even more women than men. And for every girl who joins the platform, you earn 500 credits, that is, the ability to send 10 messages or see 10 profiles (see below for the weight of each dating function).

Enabling or disabling the auto-renew of the Premium membership is very easy, it can be done directly in the user's Preferences, from the users's menu in the dashboard. From that same menu, users can also check their account balance at any time and see, for example, how many credits they have, if they have an active Premium subscription, and the date on which that subscription expires. This page is called Account Status and is located just below Preferences in the registered user's menu. The following is a typical example:

Account Status
User: user1
Email: user@domain.com
Current Status: Active
Credit Balance: 57000
Premium Subscription Expiration Date: February 10, 2026
Special Powers Status: No powers
Registration Date: January 1, 2018, at 02:16
Last Login: April 9, 2025, at 04:34

If Meetero is completely free for women but partially paid for men, it's not because we're “woke” or because we think women have different importance. We are not supporters of any particular gender, and they are treated equally on this platform, therefore we do not advocate for feminism, as some platforms do, nor do we have the misogynistic idea that women have less money or lower financial autonomy than men.

We do this because, firstly, the platform needs monetization to stay active. The annual cost of the Premium membership is nothing compared to a typical dating platform, which very often charges the same amount monthly. This helps us maintain the service, which is very expensive to run, and the more users we have, the more expensive it will be. We do not base our service on advertising, and we have no interest in users staying on the platform for as long as possible. We are not against ads, but their use is minimized, and they are not the platform's raison d'être.

The other reason that explains this policy is also very important. Guys have a much greater tendency to join platforms like Meetero compared to girls. Therefore, on almost all dating platforms, or social media involving dating, there are far more men than women. On free platforms, the male-to-female ratio is very often 70:30, meaning 70 men for every 30 women, which makes a good 70%. We want to maintain a 50% ratio all the time, or perhaps even have a greater number of women than men.

Why do we want this? We want this because when there is a gender imbalance, the platform doesn't work well. Women receive too many messages from too many men, and there comes a time when they stop reading them because the platform becomes boring and very demanding. In addition, many of these men send prosaic or uninteresting messages, which contributes to a woman feeling bored and stopping reading everything.

Whereas imposing a partial payment on men forces them to rethink their phrasing and carefully consider who to write to. Men become more serious and less numerous because we know that most won't be willing to pay until they see that it's worth it. If sending a message has a cost, one tries to send the best possible message and only when genuinely interested. This is the goal we want to achieve.

In the end, everyone will be better off. Men will no longer have as much low-level competition and will have a greater chance of being read by the women they are interested in. And women will have to deal with a much smaller number of messages, and by having to read fewer messages, these messages are more likely to be read, which is what we want.

Below, we will list the various available plans:

Dating Function Cost in credits
Send a message 50
Visit a profile 50
See a picture 50
Open the Carousel 100
Perform a quick search 25
Perform a basic search 50
Perform an advanced search 250

*Credits are discounted each time one of these functions are used, even if you perform repeadtly the same. If you are Premium member, your credits are unlimited, and if you had any residual credits before becoming Premium, they will not be discounted during your membership and they will be disounted next time they are needed.

Note: In the not-too-distant future, we also plan to implement a system of natural credit increases over time. For example, once a month, the user would receive a thousand credits for free, and if they desire greater usage, they would need to upgrade. However, this option is not yet available, and we haven't fully decided on it, as the platform needs a flexible way to monetize, and this would, in a way, violate the objective for which this business model was implemented.
